Research, analysis and rapid prototyping of created an improved design of an existing interface.

Our team, Springbok, chose the Honeywell VisionPro 8000 as our usability research subject. We identified numerous issues with how the interface functions. Through a usability analysis and applying usability research techniques and interviewing users to test out the product (a flash version), we found that users were very confused with how the existing product operates.

Using the data we gathered, we did a low-fidelity paper prototype to test out a revised design of the interface. We did an analysis through our prototype and again applied another round of user testing and revisions into developing a new prototype with an improved interface (medium-fidelity Flash prototype).

We were very satisifed with our prototype and we feel like we achieved a high level of usability compared to the original interface due to a direct application of interaction design and usability engineering concepts.
